Employment Exams
Audiogram
DEFINITION
Hearing screening test measuring six separate frequency ranges from 500-8000 Hertz allowing one to establish a hearing threshold at each frequency. This test is performed by a certified technician. This is not a substitute for a hearing screening program which must be established by the employer. Any audiogram should be performed after at least 16 hours without any exposure to loud noise or noise in the workplace.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR AUDIOGRAM
Please expect to be at the clinic for 15-20 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete paperwork. Please avoid loud noises (loud music, mowing the lawn etc) 16 hours prior to your exam.
During your visit, you will be asked to complete a Registration/Consent form authorizing Cascade Occupational Medicine to perform the test and send the results of your test to your employer. You will also be asked to complete a short audiometric history form.
After your forms have been completed, you will be put in a hearing booth where the testing will take place.
Upon completion of your test your company will be notified if your audiogram is normal, abnormal or if any threshold shift changes have occurred.
