Employment Exams
FAA (FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION)
DEFINITION
FAA (Federal Aviation Administration)
Medical standards established by law are contained in the Federal Aviation’s Regulations. These examinations testify only to the medical fitness of the airmen. The Flying proficiency and medical ratings are determined separately by other branches of the Federal Administration.
There are four classes of medical certification:
Class I: Flying for Hire-Passenger Services
Class II: Flying for Hire
Class III: Most private pilots, Airmen Medical and Student Pilots
The medical requirements are most demanding for the Class I: Flying for Hire-Passenger Service examination. They then become progressively less stringent. A Senior Examiner rating is required for Class I examinations.
Currently, Cascade Occupational Medicine can provide Class II and Class III exams.
We anticipate Class I exams to be available in approximately three years.
