Shawn Cooney, MPT, CMP

Shawn P. Cooney, M.P.T., C.M.P. has been the Director of Advanced Orthopaedic Physical Therapy since opening the first AOPT clinic in Tualatin, Oregon in early 2003. He graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science (Magna Cum Laude) in 1996 and a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy (Honors) in 1999. He has spent his career specializing and refining his skills in the fine art of manual / manipulative physical therapy. His theory is based on an eclectic approach from the forefathers of orthopaedic manual physical therapy including Freddy Kaltenborne, P.T. (Germany), Stanley Paris, P.T. (USA), Robin McKenzie, P.T., Dip MT (New Zealand), James Cyriax, M.D. (England), Alan Stoddard, D.O., M.D. (England) and “of course” Brian Mulligan, FNZSP (Hon), Dip MT (New Zealand). He became a Certified Mulligan Practitioner in 2005 and diligently works to further his own expertise, while passing on his experiential knowledge and skills to his fellow therapists and physicians.
